College Prep Programs - HUB Cities

Worksite Descriptions

1. Career Services Center

You will work on projects specific to career development or employer relations.  You will also help with some workshops and/or group sessions.  This is a great opportunity to experience all areas of career development.
You will develop organizational skills as well as computer skills and general office management.  Will also file and shred.

2. Student Health Center

You will clean and stock patient rooms, clean and sterilize instruments, assemble patient charts.  Shadow student employee.  Make runs up to North Campus Medical Center. 
Must have the ability to follow instructions, organizational skills, good work ethic.

3. UNM Recreational Services

Front office help.  Filing papers, answering phones, helping with freshman orientation, signing up customers for various activities.  Will be located in Johnson Gym, will know the ins and outs of facilities. 
Must have good customer service, a willingness to learn, a positive person who is motivated.

4. Women’s Resource Center

Front office work, copying, errands, computer, library.  Assisting with two-week summer course that WRC is co-sponsoring and some front office work.
 
5. College Enrichment Program

Student will be assisting with our summer orientation program.  They will be shadowing and given the opportunity to participate throughout the orientation process.  Student needs to be outgoing and have good customer service skills.  Use of technology a plus.

6. College Assistant Migrant Program (CAMP)

Not limited to the following duties: Filing, sorting, creating documents, assisting with prepping for presentations and researching.  Computer skills desired but not necessary.

7. Student Support Services (SSS)

General office assistance, answer phones, filing, greeting public, assist with creating files, assist with developing workshops for full semester.  Good customer service, basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

8. High School Equivalency Program (HEP)

Assist in development of HEP web site, graduation, scrapbook and administrative duties.  Student will also assist in HEP recruitment efforts throughout the Albuquerque area.  Student should be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and also have great communication skills.  Creativity would be a plus for recruitment web site.

9. UNM Naval ROTC

Inventory, follow instruction, organization and moving boxes and equipment, filing and data entry.  Student must be very dependent and pays attention to detail.

10. Purchasing Department

General clerical duties – copying, faxing, mailing out forms, etc., scanning of documents.  Student should have clerical experience.

11. Accounts Payable Department

Preparing documents for scanning, logging documents into Access database, open, sort, distribute mail. 

12. Campus Office of Substance Abuse (COSAP)

The principle project will be to update a community services directory.  This will involve a verification process using telephone and internet.  Other various duties as assigned.  Basic computer skills – Microsoft Word, Internet, telephone skills.

13. Mathematics and Statistics

Front desk receptionist.  Answer phones, filling copier machines, faxing, distributing mail.  Office or some front desk experience needed but not necessary.

14. Employee and Organizational Development (EOD)

Update training materials, filing, inventory, classroom set-up and program mailings.  Basic computer skills including Word and basic Power Point.   Organizational skills – filing and inventory.  Ability to list 20lbs.

15. Native American Studies

Office assistant / library aid.  Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures; record management skills; skill in using basic office equipment; receptionist skills; and word processing data entry skills.

16. Upward Bound

Assist with the UB program which has a summer school program.  General office assistance, filing, setting up classrooms, answering phones.  Computer skills, customer service skills, filing, letter-memo writing skills, good interpersonal skills.

17. UNM Army ROTC

Inventory Army equipment.  Inventory and label office furniture, organize supplies, folding flyers.

18. Title V

Help develop a Power Point presentation as well as helping to coordinate and set up for Lobo Orientation Discover UNM.  Willingness to learn.  You will develop Power Point and presentation skills.

19. Office of Graduate Studies

Assisting with filing and scanning.  Some computer knowledge required.

20. Air Force ROTC

Assist with phones, work with recruiting materials, and assist with uniforms.  Must be polite, detail orientated, able to work as a team member, able to follow instructions.

21. Media Tech

Assist with taking still photographs as well as video for the graduation DVD, which will be handed out at the end of the program.  Must be enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn.
