Tutoring

UNM is an altogether different level of learning in a whole new environment. Tutoring can help student.s focus and to gain an extra edge in their coursework. Throughout the academic year, Student Support Services offers cohort tutoring as well as one-on-one tutoring. Tutoring is intended to provide additional academic support and course instruction. Additionally, feedback from the tutors helps to develop and strengthen skills such as note taking.

Tutoring is available for the following subjects this semester:

  • Organic Chemistry

Mentoring

Adapting to university life can be overwheling for many incoming freshman. The goal of the mentors is to prove the retention and graduation rate of the students participating in Student Support Services (SSS). SSS has peer mentors who are juniors and seniors at UNM. These upper These upper classmen have exhibited academic proficiency and leadership abilities to serve in the capacity of the SSS peer mentors.

The peer mentors assist students by helping them to become acclimated to college life at UNM. Mentoring can can be gratifying and wonderful experience for the students involved. Mentors promote and encourage the students to participate in developmental and educational programs on the campus. Students are able to discuss with their mentors many issues, concerns or difficulties that they are experiencing. The mentors offer their own college experiences and provide helpful information to the mentee.
